A Simple Daily Drink for Recovery, Hydration, and Real Life
Some smoothies are just sugar in a blender.
Others are actually doing something. So let’s do something. And let’s call it something else. Because it is something else.
I like purpose. I dont need more sugar, calories, or entertainment. I want it to do something!

I’ve been experimenting with different combinations while gathering recipes for my cookbook, and this blend has quickly become one of my favorites. It’s simple, clean, and built around ingredients that support hydration, recovery, and basic nutritional density — without turning your drink into a dessert. The base is blueberries. From there, a few well-chosen ingredients turn it into something much more substantial.
Blueberries do more than add flavor. They’re one of the most antioxidant-dense fruits available and are relatively low in oxalates compared to many other “superfood” ingredients that people toss into smoothies without thinking twice. Blueberries bring polyphenols and anthocyanins—natural plant compounds that help protect the fruit and also act as antioxidants in the body. Anthocyanins are the pigments that give blueberries their deep blue color and are one of the reasons berries are considered so nutritionally powerful.
They also provide natural vitamin C and a gentle sweetness, without flooding the drink with sugar the way many smoothie fruits do.
And of course, they give the drink that rich deep-blue color that simply looks good in a glass.
Building a Better Blend
A lot of smoothies fail nutritionally because they’re missing structure.
Fruit, almond milk, maybe some yogurt — and that’s about it.
This one is built a little differently.
Each ingredient plays a role.
Antioxidants. acacia fiber (not corn!), easy to love marine collagen, amino acids and quick clean energy from MCT oil, this little blend has it all.

Choose Well!
Not all products are created equally. Choose quality products with the right stuff. I don’t want a soluble fiber product from corn, do you? Shop your MCT oil carefully. Choose a high-quality MCT oil from coconut that is rich in clean C8 and C10 triglycerides.
Marine Collagen
Collagen adds amino acids that support skin, connective tissue, and recovery. It also adds a quiet creaminess to the drink without using dairy. Marine collagen also provides highly absorbable Type I collagen peptides and is often considered lighter and easier to digest than bovine collagen. So if you’re sensitive, this might be a better choice.
Electrolytes
A scoop of electrolyte powder helps replenish sodium, potassium, and magnesium — nutrients many people are surprisingly low in. If you drink a lot of water in a day, remember you might flushing some very important salts from your body. Hydration isn’t just about water.
Soluble Fiber
Adding a soluble fiber blend gives this drink more staying power and supports digestion. It slows sugar absorption and feeds beneficial gut bacteria. So important! I searched hard for this and for the right stuff.
MCT Oil
MCT oil is a quick source of clean energy. It is rapidly absorbed and converted into fuel rather than being stored as fat. MCT oil helps support mental clarity, metabolism, and sustained energy without the sugar spike.
Glycine
A small pinch of glycine adds a gentle natural sweetness and supplies an amino acid that supports collagen metabolism and sleep quality.
It’s a small ingredient, but powerful and possibly under-rated.
The Drink
Ingredients
1 cup water
1/2 cup blueberries
1 scoop marine collagen
1 scoop electrolyte powder
1 tbsp soluble fiber
1 tsp to 1 Tbsp MCT oil
1 scoop glycine crystals
1 cup cold water
Ice
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a blender.
Blend until smooth.
A small portable blender like a BlendJet with an XL jar works perfectly for this because the ingredients are light and blend easily.
Drink immediately.
Why This Works
This blend delivers several nutritional benefits at once:
• antioxidants from blueberries
• amino acids from collagen and glycine
• hydration support from electrolytes
• digestive support from soluble fiber
• sustained energy from MCT oil
Instead of a quick sugar spike, it becomes something closer to a functional nutrition drink.
A Morning Blend That Actually Serves a Purpose
The word smoothie gets thrown around a lot.
Most are just fruit desserts wearing a health halo. I got better things to do.
When you combine a handful of thoughtful ingredients, the blend can become something different — a simple daily ritual that supports hydration, recovery, and nourishment.
Cheers!
